New ability

Mold Breaker

Moves used by this Pokémon ignore the target's ability when dealing damage. Most importantly, this bypasses Levitate (which normally grants Ground immunity) and other damage-negating abilities.

Mega Ampharos gains the Dragon type, transforming its defensive and offensive profile. Electric/Dragon gives it resistances to Flying, Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric, at the cost of a 2× Dragon weakness and 2× Ice weakness. Mold Breaker means Mega Ampharos’s Electric moves hit Levitating Pokémon — the ones that would normally be immune to Electric’s Ground-adjacent properties. Rotom-Wash, Gengar, and others that count on Levitate to dodge Ground-type moves still get hit by Mega Ampharos’s Thunderbolt.

165 base Special Attack

At 165 base Special Attack, Mega Ampharos has one of the highest Special Attack stats in the game. Thunderbolt (90 base power, 30% paralysis chance) hits very hard. Dragon Pulse with Mold Breaker coverage rounds out the attack set.

Speed problem
