Mega Evolution is the central battle mechanic of Regulation Set M-A. Once per battle, you may transform a Pokémon into its Mega form, gaining:
- Higher base stats (typically +100 BST distributed across stats)
- A new ability (different from the base form)
- Sometimes a new typing (e.g. Mega Charizard XMega Charizard XmegaTough Claws boosts every physical contact move by 1.3× — Dragon Claw and Flare Blitz become devastating from base 130 Attack on a Fire/Dragon type.Click to read more → gains Dragon)
How to Mega-evolve
Three things are required:
- The Pokémon must hold its species-specific Mega Stone (e.g. Charizardite Y for Mega Charizard YMega Charizard YmegaSummons harsh sunlight the moment it Mega Evolves, boosting Fire moves for the whole team.Click to read more →).
- The trainer must own the Omni Ring key item (default in Champions).
- You must select “Mega Evolve” before choosing your move.
The transformation happens before the move resolves, and the Mega’s new Speed is used to determine turn order on that turn (and forever after).
One per battle, per team
You can only Mega-evolve one Pokémon per battle, even if you have multiple Mega-capable Pokémon on the team. Pick carefully.
