Mega Slowbro is a tank built for Trick RoomTrick RoomstrategyFor 5 turns, slower Pokémon move first. Its defensive stats are excellent (95/110/110), and Shell Armor means it can never be crit — an important property for a Pokémon that often stays on the field for many turns under Trick Room. Its base 30 Speed is one of the lowest in the game, which is exactly what Trick Room teams want: under Trick Room, the slowest Pokémon moves first.
At 150 base Special Attack, Mega Slowbro hits hard. The burn chance from Scald is particularly valuable — burning a physical attacker halves their Attack for the rest of the battle.
Trick Room anchor
Mega Slowbro’s role is to sit under Trick Room and deal steady damage while being nearly impossible to KO. With Calm Mind (which raises Special Attack and Special Defense), it can become even more powerful over multiple turns. Shell Armor ensures critical hits can’t strip away the defensive stat boosts it accumulates.
Weaknesses
- Ghost-type moves — Ghost hits Psychic for 2×. Gengar and Dragapult can threaten Mega Slowbro.
- Electric and Grass moves — Both hit Water for 2×. These are the primary ways to break through it before it accumulates too much Calm Mind boosts.
- Speed — Mega Slowbro does nothing without Trick Room active. When Trick Room expires or gets reversed, it moves last and is very vulnerable.
