Innards Out

When this Pokémon faints from a damaging move, it deals damage to the attacker equal to the HP it had before taking the final hit. If Mega Victreebel has 150 HP remaining when KO'd, the attacker takes 150 damage.

Champions exclusive: Mega Victreebel does not exist in mainline Pokémon games. This Mega was introduced in Pokémon Champions.

Mega Victreebel is a damage-dealing trap. Innards Out means that whichever Pokémon deals the final hit that faints Mega Victreebel also takes damage equal to what Victreebel had left. At high HP, this can KO the opponent’s attacker at the same time as Victreebel faints — a 1-for-1 trade built into the ability.

At 120 base Special Attack with Grass/Poison STABSTABmechanicSame-Type Attack Bonus: a move deals ×1.5 damage when its type matches one of the user's types.Click to read more →, Mega Victreebel deals real damage before fainting. Leaf Storm (140 base power Grass, drops Special Attack afterward) and Sludge Bomb are its primary attacks.

Threat math

If Mega Victreebel has 200 HP remaining when a physical attacker lands the final blow, that attacker takes 200 damage. Since many sweepers have 250-300 HP at Level 50, a healthy Victreebel can trade KO for KO. This creates a strong deterrent — opponents often avoid landing the finishing blow or feel forced to use a special attacker to limit the return damage.

Knock Off interaction

Because Innards Out damage is based on remaining HP (not max HP or a formula), opponents using chip-damage strategies to slowly reduce Victreebel’s HP will minimize the Innards Out retaliation. Low-HP Victreebel returns minimal damage.
