Fiery Dance is a Fire-type special spread move with 80 base power and a 50% chance to raise the user’s Special Attack by +1 after landing. It hits both opposing Pokémon simultaneously.

Volcarona’s offensive backbone

Volcarona is the primary Fiery Dance user in Reg M-A. Under DroughtDroughtabilityAn ability that instantly sets permanent sun when the Pokémon enters the field.Click to read more → (sun), Fiery Dance gets the standard Fire-type 50% boost — and every time the 50% proc triggers, Volcarona’s Special Attack rises further.

This creates a self-reinforcing pattern: Fiery Dance both deals damage and has a coin-flip chance to make the next Fiery Dance stronger. After a successful proc, Volcarona is already threatening — after two or three procs, it’s nearly impossible to tank.

Fiery Dance vs Quiver Dance

Quiver DanceQuiver DancemoveA Bug-type move that raises Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed all at once by one stage each.Click to read more → gives a guaranteed +1 to three stats but requires a full turn of no offense. Fiery Dance gives a 50% chance of +1 Special Attack while also dealing spread damage.

The choice depends on the game state:

Many Volcarona builds run both: Quiver Dance for guaranteed setup, Fiery Dance for the proc-based snowball once running.

Under Sun

Sun is nearly mandatory for Volcarona builds. Fiery Dance under sun effectively deals 120 effective base power (80 × 1.5) to both targets — and if the Special Attack rises from the proc, the next hit is even higher.
