What bounces
Almost all status moves that target an opponent are reflected:
- Sleep moves — Spore, Sleep Powder, Hypnosis, Yawn all bounce back and put the user to sleep
- Taunt — bounces back, Taunting the Taunt user instead

Hatterene in Trick Room
HattereneHatterenepokemonMagic Bounce setter and Trick Room anchor. Reflects status, sets terrain, and powers slow attackers under reversed Speed.Click to read more → is the primary Magic Bounce user in Reg M-A. It runs Magic Bounce to protect itself while setting up Trick Room — any Taunt the opponent throws to stop Hatterene gets reflected back, leaving the opponent unable to use status moves instead.
Combined with Hatterene’s Misty Surge setting Misty TerrainTerrainmechanicField effects that last 5 turns and boost or protect grounded Pokémon — Grassy, Psychic, Electric, and Misty each do something different.Click to read more → (which blocks status conditions on the ground), it’s extremely difficult to disrupt a Hatterene-led Trick Room attempt through conventional status moves.
The bounce is automatic
Magic Bounce requires no action from the Hatterene player — it triggers passively. The opponent sees their move bounce and the animation plays in reverse. If they don’t know about Magic Bounce, they can accidentally lock themselves into bad positions (Taunting themselves, sleeping themselves, seeding themselves).
