Grass/Ice is a rare offensive type combination. Ice handles Dragon and Flying types that resist or threaten Grass moves, while Grass covers Water, Ground, and Rock. Together they cover a wide range of the meta’s defensive cores.
Snow team support
Mega Abomasnow stacks with any Ice-type teammates. Under harsh snow, Blizzard becomes a 110 base power spread move with no accuracy check — hitting both opponents simultaneously. Grass STAB utility
Grass-type STAB from a snow setter is unusual and valuable. Water-type opponents (Pelipper, Basculegion) are hit for 2×, and Earthquake spread is negated by the Grass/Ice combination of resistances. Wood Hammer or Energy Ball covers the Water-types that resist both Ice and Grass on standard teams.
What stops it
- Fire-type moves — Fire hits both Grass and Ice for 2×. Charizard and Volcarona threaten Mega Abomasnow immediately.
- Steel-type moves — Steel hits Ice for 2×. Many Pokémon carry Steel coverage as general utility.
- Opposing weather setters — Tyranitar (sand) and Pelipper (rain) overwrite snow on entry. Mega Abomasnow doesn’t permanently lock in snow if an opposing setter is brought in afterward.
