Champions exclusive: Mega Chesnaught does not exist in mainline Pokémon games. This Mega was introduced in Pokémon Champions.
Bulletproof makes Mega Chesnaught immune to a surprisingly large number of competitive moves. Shadow Ball (the most common Ghost coverage), Sludge Bomb (common Poison move, and Fairy’s main threat), Focus Blast (the most common special Fighting coverage), and Energy Ball (Grass coverage) all fail against it. Many Pokémon carry one of these moves as their coverage option, and Mega Chesnaught simply ignores them.
At 107/122/75 Attack/Defense/SpDef with 122 base Attack, Mega Chesnaught is a physical tank. Wood Hammer (Grass STABSTABmechanicSame-Type Attack Bonus: a move deals ×1.5 damage when its type matches one of the user's types.Click to read more →, recoil) and Hammer Arm (Fighting STAB, Speed drop) are its primary attacks. Spiky Shield (its unique move — blocks moves and deals 1/8 HP damage on contact) is one of the best protection moves in the game.
Spiky Shield synergy
Spiky Shield works like ProtectProtectmoveA move that makes the user immune to all moves for one turn. Fails if used consecutively.Click to read more → but also deals 1/8 HP damage to any Pokémon that makes physical contact with Chesnaught while it’s protected. Against Rocky Helmet users trying to chip Chesnaught, Spiky Shield punishes them back.
Grass/Fighting coverage
Grass handles Water, Ground, and Rock. Fighting handles Normal, Ice, Steel, Rock, and Dark. The overlap on Rock means most common Rock types are hit extremely hard.
