Champions exclusive: Mega Emboar does not exist in mainline Pokémon games. This Mega was introduced in Pokémon Champions.
Mega Emboar is a hard-hitting physical attacker whose Mold Breaker removes the defensive immunities that would normally give it trouble. Fire/Fighting is a great offensive type combination — Fire covers Steel, Grass, Bug, and Ice; Fighting covers Normal, Ice, Rock, Steel, and Dark. Together they leave very few targets unthreated. Mold Breaker then ensures even Flash Fire and Levitate users can’t simply absorb its attacks.
At 150 base Attack, Mega Emboar hits extremely hard. Flare Blitz (Fire STABSTABmechanicSame-Type Attack Bonus: a move deals ×1.5 damage when its type matches one of the user's types.Click to read more →, recoil) and Close Combat (Fighting STAB, defense drops) are its main moves.
Mold Breaker interactions in practice
- Flash Fire normally makes a Pokémon immune to Fire moves. Mega Emboar’s Flare Blitz ignores it.
- Levitate normally grants Ground immunity. Mega Emboar’s Earthquake hits Rotom-Wash, Gengar, and other Levitate users.
- Sturdy normally ensures a Pokémon survives with 1 HP from a one-hit KO. Mega Emboar can KO through Sturdy.
What stops it
- Water and Ground — Water hits Fire for 2×, Ground hits Fire for 2×. Earthquake from a faster Pokémon is the most common answer.
- Psychic and Flying — Both hit Fighting for 2×. Psychic from HattereneHatterenepokemonMagic Bounce setter and Trick Room anchor. Reflects status, sets terrain, and powers slow attackers under reversed Speed.Click to read more → or Flying from Tornadus threatens it.
- Recoil damage — Flare Blitz and Close Combat both have downsides (recoil and Defense drop respectively). Using them repeatedly wears down Mega Emboar.
