Champions exclusive: Mega Meganium does not exist in mainline Pokémon games. Mega Sol is a brand-new ability created for Pokémon Champions.
Mega Meganium’s Mega Sol is a personal ability — it does not change the field weather for teammates. Instead, Mega Meganium itself always behaves as if harsh sunlight is active: its Fire-type moves receive the 1.5× sun boost, Solar Beam charges in one turn, and sun-dependent effects all work for it regardless of the actual weather on the field.
This means Mega Meganium can run Fire-type coverage (like Flamethrower or Fire Blast) with consistent 1.5× power even on a non-sun team. It doesn’t need a Torkoal or Charizard Y running interference — the sun effect is built in.
Grass/Fairy is a strong offensive combination. Grass handles Water, Ground, and Rock. Fairy handles Dragon, Fighting, and Dark. Together these cover the main threats Meganium faces.
Solo sun attacker
Unlike Torkoal or Charizard Y, which set weather for the whole team, Mega Meganium keeps its sun benefit private. This lets it fit on non-weather teams without clashing with teammates that might prefer different weather — rain, sand, or clear skies. It’s a self-contained package.
Flower Veil support
Mega Meganium has access to Flower Veil (prevents allies’ stats from being lowered) and Aromatherapy (cures the whole team’s status conditions). These support moves make it a versatile pivot on any team that needs more than just damage.
What stops it
- Fire-type moves — Fire hits Grass for 2×, and Mega Meganium sets Sun which strengthens opposing Fire moves. Ironically its own Sun threatens it.
- Poison and Steel — Poison hits Fairy for 2×, Steel hits Fairy for 2×. These are the main ways to break through Mega Meganium’s bulk.
- Ice moves — Ice hits Grass for 2×. BlizzardBlizzardmove110 base power Ice-type spread move. 70% accuracy normally, but always hits in Snow weather. The signature offensive move on Snow teams.Click to read more → is a major threat, especially from opposing weather teams.
