Champions exclusive: Mega Scovillain does not exist in mainline Pokémon games. Spicy Spray is a brand-new ability created for Pokémon Champions.
Mega Scovillain is a defensive-pressure attacker. Spicy Spray burns any Pokémon that hits it — guaranteed, no percentage. Physical attackers that try to KO Mega Scovillain get burned in the process, halving their Attack for the rest of the game. This means targeting Mega Scovillain with physical moves is often a losing trade: even if it faints, the attacker is crippled.
At 100 base Special Attack with Grass/Fire STABSTABmechanicSame-Type Attack Bonus: a move deals ×1.5 damage when its type matches one of the user's types.Click to read more →, Mega Scovillain deals real damage from the opposite side. Flamethrower and Energy Ball are its primary moves. In Sun, Fire moves receive ×1.5 boost, making Mega Scovillain’s damage output significantly higher.
Deterrence effect
Spicy Spray’s real value is the threat: once opponents know every hit on Mega Scovillain burns the attacker, they avoid targeting it with physical moves. This forces the opponent toward special attackers or indirect moves to avoid the burn — changing how they play the whole game around Mega Scovillain’s presence.
Fire/Grass type synergy
Grass handles Water and Ground, which would otherwise be threatening. Fire handles Steel and Bug, which resist Grass. The two types have very few overlapping weaknesses — just Flying (×2 for both).
What stops it
- Fire types — Fire Pokémon are immune to being burned. Mega Scovillain’s primary passive synergy fails entirely against them.
- Flying-type moves — Flying hits both Grass and Fire for 2×. A Tornadus or Talonflame can KO Mega Scovillain very efficiently.
- Rock and Water — Rock hits Fire for 2×, Water hits Fire for 2×. Common coverage types in the meta.
