Mega Evolution

Mega Delphox

Gains Levitate, making it immune to Ground moves — combined with Fire/Psychic STAB, it can freely use Psyshock and Fire Blast without fear of Earthquake retaliation.

Requires: Delphoxite

New ability

Levitate

Grants immunity to all Ground-type moves. Earthquake, Earth Power, and Magnitude cannot hit this Pokémon. Also prevents Arena Trap from trapping it.

Champions exclusive: Mega Delphox does not exist in mainline Pokémon games. This Mega was introduced in Pokémon Champions.

Mega Delphox gains Levitate upon Mega EvolutionMega EvolutionmechanicOnce per battle, a Pokémon holding the right Mega Stone transforms into a stronger form with new stats, type, and ability.Click to read more →, adding Ground immunity to its Fire/Psychic type combination. This matters a lot in doubles: Earthquake is the most common spread move in the game. Mega Delphox can stay on the field with a Ground-type partner (like GarchompGarchomppokemonThe premier spread attacker under Tailwind. Earthquake hits both opponents, Scale Shot chains Speed boosts, and Dragon Claw threatens opposing dragons.Click to read more →) that uses Earthquake freely, since it floats above the attack and takes no damage.

At 130 base Special Attack, Mega Delphox hits decently hard. Fire Blast (or Flamethrower for more accuracy) with STABSTABmechanicSame-Type Attack Bonus: a move deals ×1.5 damage when its type matches one of the user's types.Click to read more → and Psyshock (hits the target’s Defense stat instead of Special Defense, bypassing special tanks) are its primary moves.

Psyshock vs Psychic

Psyshock is Psychic-type but uses the target’s physical Defense stat for damage calculation instead of Special Defense. This is valuable against specially bulky Pokémon (like Blissey) that have enormous Special Defense but lower Defense. Psyshock hits them for full effective damage.

Sun team fit

In Sun, Fire Blast gains ×1.5, making Mega Delphox’s Fire STAB significantly stronger. It functions well on Sun teams that can benefit from both the Grass weakness coverage (Fire) and Dragon/Fighting coverage (Psychic).
