Mega Heracross uses Skill Link to transform normally unreliable multi-hit moves into consistent, high-damage attacks. Pin Missile is 25 base power × 5 hits = 125 effective base power with Skill Link, plus Bug STABSTABmechanicSame-Type Attack Bonus: a move deals ×1.5 damage when its type matches one of the user's types.Click to read more →. Rock Blast is 25 base power × 5 hits = 125 effective base power, providing Rock coverage that bypasses Substitutes (each hit checks independently).
At 185 base Attack — the highest physical Attack of any non-legendary Mega — Mega Heracross hits extremely hard. The combination of Bug STAB, Fighting STAB, and Rock coverage handles a wide range of targets.
Focus Blast alternative
Heracross can also run Focus Blast (a Special Fighting move), but Mega Heracross’s 75 Special Attack makes this inefficient. The physical attack route with Arm Thrust (Fighting, multi-hit, STAB + Skill Link) is far more powerful.
