What it does

Swift Swim doubles Speed under rain. Wave Crash deals enormous Water damage with recoil — under rain it KOs most Pokémon in one or two hits. The centerpiece of all Rain teams; everything else on the team exists to enable this threat.

Why it's threatening

Under rain, Basculegion is simultaneously one of the fastest and hardest-hitting Pokémon in the format. Wave Crash's recoil doesn't matter when you're one-shotting targets. Ghost typing means it can't be trapped by Normal moves, and Wave Crash's power under rain is simply difficult to survive.

Electric moves deal 2×. Grass moves deal 2× — Water/Ghost typing means only the Water half is weak to Grass (Venusaur Sleep Powder + Grass STAB hits both halves of the rain plan). Ghost moves from Sinistcha and Dark moves deal 2× from a different angle. Most importantly: knock out Pelipper first to remove rain. Without rain, Basculegion's Speed is ordinary.
