Turn 1
Pelipper enters and rain starts immediately — no action required. Basculegion is already at double Speed.
Role breakdown
Watch out for
Tyranitar
Sand Stream overwrites your weather the moment Tyranitar enters — Swift Swim Speed drops instantly, Fire boosts disappear. Spot it in Team Preview and lead a Pokémon that can threaten a KO on turn 1.
Kingambit
Sucker Punch picks off a low-HP Basculegion or Archaludon at +0, and Defiant turns every Intimidate cycle from your Incineroar partner into a free +2 boost. Pressure it with Fighting moves before it sets up, or run Iron Head on a teammate to chip its Steel typing down.
How it works
Weather teams set a field condition —
Starter team
Reg M-A · 2026
Drizzle activates the moment Pelipper switches in. Under rain, Water moves hit 50% harder, Thunder is 100% accurate, and Swift Swim Pokémon double their Speed — turning them into some of the fastest threats in the format. Rain is the most offensive weather variant.
Rain setter
@ Sitrus BerryDrizzle activates on switch-in, no action required. Hurricane is 100% accurate in rain. U-turn keeps momentum when Pelipper needs to exit.
Swift Swim sweeper
@ Mystic WaterWave Crash plus doubled Speed under rain makes this the format's most threatening rain attacker. Mystic Water amplifies Wave Crash's Water-type damage, pushing it into guaranteed KO range on most of the meta. Build your turns around getting Basculegion into a clean sweeping position.
Secondary sweeper
@ MagnetStamina stacks Defense on every hit, making it a wall that hits back hard. Thunder is 100% accurate in rain for reliable Electric coverage. Magnet amplifies Thunder's damage — as Stamina absorbs incoming hits, Archaludon hits back harder and harder.
Defensive pivot
@ LeftoversBaneful Bunker blocks and poisons attackers; Recover keeps it healthy through long games. Leftovers adds passive healing each turn, extending its defensive presence further.
Support
@ Mental HerbPrankster Tailwind as backup speed control. Encore locks opponents into poor moves; Helping Hand amplifies sweep turns.
Defensive backbone
@ Wacan BerrySteel/Flying immunity to Ground moves protects Archaludon and Basculegion. Mirror Armor reflects Intimidate and other Attack drops back at the opponent — switch it in against Incineroar leads to bounce the drop immediately. Wacan Berry halves Electric damage from the Thunders rain teams consistently attract.
