Abilities

Abilities are passive effects that fire automatically — on switch-in, on hit, on contact, or while a condition is active. Many archetype-defining strategies are built around a single ability.

Adaptability

Doubles the STAB bonus from 1.5× to 2× — matching-type moves hit harder than on any other Pokémon.

Aerilate

Converts the user's Normal-type moves to Flying-type and boosts their power by 1.2×. With STAB stacked on top, a Normal move becomes a 1.95× Flying STAB attack.

Chlorophyll

Doubles this Pokémon's Speed under harsh sunlight.

Competitive

Raises Special Attack by 2 stages whenever any of the Pokémon's stats are lowered — including by Intimidate.

Defiant

Raises Attack by 2 stages whenever any of the Pokémon's stats are lowered — including by Intimidate.

Drizzle

An ability that instantly summons permanent rain when the Pokémon enters the field — no move required.

Drought

An ability that instantly sets permanent sun when the Pokémon enters the field.

Gale Wings

Gives the user's Flying-type moves +1 priority — but only when the user is at full HP. Once damaged, Flying moves return to their normal speed.

Hospitality

Restores 25% of the partner's max HP when this Pokémon enters the field.

Intimidate

When this Pokémon enters the battlefield, the opposing Pokémon's Attack stat drops by one stage.

Iron Barbs

Deals 1/8 HP damage to any Pokémon that makes physical contact with the ability holder.

Magic Bounce

Reflects status moves back at the user — Taunt, sleep moves, weather-changing moves, and hazards all bounce.

Mirror Armor

Reflects any stat-lowering effect inflicted on the holder back at the attacker. Intimidate, Sticky Web, Charm, and other stat drops bounce off.

Parental Bond

The holder hits twice with each damaging move — the second hit deals 1/4 damage. Effectively a 1.25× power multiplier with extra status-trigger chances.

Pixilate

Converts the user's Normal-type moves to Fairy-type and boosts their power by 1.2×. With STAB stacked on top, a Normal move becomes a 1.8× Fairy STAB attack.

Prankster

An ability that gives all Status moves +1 priority — they go before almost everything, even if the Pokémon is slow.

Quark Drive

Iron Hands's ability — boosts the Pokémon's highest stat by 30% (or 50% for Speed) when Electric Terrain is active.

Sand Rush

Doubles this Pokémon's Speed under sandstorm.

Sand Stream

An ability that summons permanent sandstorm on entry, dealing 1/16 HP chip to non-Rock/Ground/Steel types each turn.

Shadow Tag

Prevents both opposing Pokémon from switching out. Trapped Pokémon must either attack, use status moves, or get KO'd.

Snow Warning

Sets harsh snow the moment this Pokémon enters the field — no move required.

Stamina

Raises Defense by one stage every time the Pokémon takes damage from an attack.

Supreme Overlord

Kingambit's ability: Attack increases by 10% for each fainted ally, up to +50% at 5 fainted — it gets stronger as teammates fall.

Swift Swim

An ability that doubles the Pokémon's Speed stat while rain is active on the field.

Tough Claws

Boosts the power of contact moves by 1.3×. Most physical attacks make contact, so this is effectively a permanent damage buff for physical attackers.

Unburden

Doubles the Pokémon's Speed when its held item is lost or consumed.
